The large luxury car category is extremely competitive. Two of the top contenders are the 2017 Lincoln Continental and the Cadillac CT6. Both offer style, luxury and performance.
Let’s compare features head-to-head to see which of these luxury rides comes out on top.
The new Lincoln Continental is perfectly proportioned. The face offers a beautiful grille with sexy body forms and gentle creases showcasing the wheels and tires. Polished silver finish on the side window trim integrates perfectly with the thin mirror pedestals and redesigned and substantial door handles.
The CT6 offers a sexy design. It has a low stance and features the classic Cadillac vertical lighting and an integrated rear spoiler. The design is well balanced, but comes off a little conservative.
Inside the Cabin
The Continental seats five adults in comfort with 30-way adjustable front seats. Touchscreen controls and door-mounted controls work to raise, inflate, slide and heat the seats, plus enable the massage feature. The cabin is fully equipped with luxurious finishes and materials along with the latest state-of-the-art technology, including the SYNC 3 infotainment system and an 8-inch color touchscreen – all standard.
The CT6 also seats five adults comfortably although the cabin is slightly smaller than the Lincoln’s. Heated, ventilated, massage seating is available as an upgrade to the Platinum level only. The Cadillac cabin features fine finishes and luxury touches with a good layout. The infotainment system is overly complicated, but it does feature a 10-inch touchscreen.
Under the Hood
The Continental offers three V6 engine choices. The base puts out 305 horsepower. If you’re looking for better performance, opt for either the 335-horsepower turbocharged V6, or the 400-horsepower twin-turbocharged powerhouse.
The 2017 CT6 comes standard with a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that delivers 265 horsepower. The base engine is available in rear-wheel drive only. There are two V6 upgrades – a 3.6-liter and a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter.
The Lincoln has one of the lowest base prices in the class at around $45,000. The top-of-the-line Black Label comes in at around $63,000 – lower than some competitors’ base price!
The CT6 starts at $58,695 with the top-of-the-line Platinum model coming in at $87,795.
Both cars offer the luxury amenities you’d expect, but the Lincoln offers more power under the hood, better technology and a base price more than $10,000 less than the comparable CT6. The clear winner is the Lincoln Continental!
