When it comes to the luxury crossover class, two models lead the pack – the 2017 Lincoln MKX and the 2017 Acura MDX. Both offer the experience you’d expect at this price point, along with plenty of styling, comfort and performance.
Here’s a look at the Lincoln MKX vs. Acura MDX, feature for feature:
The Lincoln MKX offers a stylish exterior that is far more distinguished than previous models. The sculpting on the side-body is graceful and softer with a little more wagon-like profile. The front fascia boasts Lincoln’s distinctive dual grille. In the rear, the stylish taillights stretch across the tailgate, reminiscent of the Lincoln MKC.
The Acura MDX boasts a more aggressive style with the signature Diamond Pentagon grille, re-sculpted front fenders, a new hood and LED fog lights. It’s a sporty look, but does not reflect its luxury status.
Inside the Cabin
The Lincoln’s interior is stylish, featuring high-quality materials. It can easily fit five adults comfortably in its leather-wrapped seats, and loaded with plenty of amenities within easy reach. 2017 brings four distinctive new Black Label design themes, including Modern Heritage and Indulgence – inspired by the fashion, culture and art scene of 1920s Paris.
The Acura also offers a solid interior. The cabin reflects the exterior center console features a V-shaped, sloping design. The dash design does complement the rest of the cabin, and the materials used in the interior are nicely coordinated.
Both models are strong when it comes to safety features, including antilock brakes, side curtain airbags and a backup camera standard. The Lincoln MKX takes things a bit further, offering standard rear parking sensors and standard MyKey technology, which can help parents keep track of young drivers. The Lincoln MKX also offers all of the latest safety features, including a forward collision alert with automatic braking lane departure warning system, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert.
The Acura MDX offers the AcuraWatch suite of safety and driver-assist features standard, which includes many of the same features as the Lincoln MKX. When it comes to safety, both the Lincoln MKX and Acura MDX take the focused approach you would expect from a modern luxury vehicle.
The Acura’s style is a bit more aggressive and much less classically luxurious than the Lincoln’s. Both offer impressive standard safety packages but Lincoln’s inclusion of the MyKey system is perfect for families with young drivers. Plus, with an entry price that’s $5,000 less than Acura, the Lincoln offers tremendous value in a luxury ride, making it the clear winner.
