You have many fine choices in the luxury midsize category. Two of the best are the 2017 Lincoln MKZ and the 2017 Cadillac CTS. Both cars have plenty of style, great performance and comfort. So how do you choose?
Let’s compare them head to head and see which comes out on top!
The Lincoln MKZ sports an all-new exterior design for 2017 that is sleek and sexy. For 2017 Lincoln traded the split-wing grille for a new look reminiscent of the Continental. Available LED headlights and daytime running lights add character to its sleek lines and sexy profile.
The Cadillac CTS also received an exterior update for 2017, with a new grille and headlights that gives it aggressive styling, unlike the previous sleek Cadillac appearance of years past.
The Lincoln MKZ seats five very comfortably in heated and cooled leather seating with plenty of legroom in the rear. Overall, the cabin features a stylish design with soft-touch materials throughout plus high-quality finishes and elegant details that offer a luxurious look and feel. One of the hallmarks of the Lincoln brand is the whisper quiet interior and the Lincoln MKZ is no exception!
The Cadillac also seats five adults. The front seat offers plenty of space and ample support. The rear seats however offer sub-par leg and headroom. The cabin does feature high-end materials and a pleasant, elegant design.
With two engine choices and a hybrid version, the Lincoln MKZ offers great performance options. The standard turbocharged four-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine produces 245 horsepower. If you want more, upgrade to the 3.0-liter turbocharged V6. It puts out 350 horses. Both are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The ride is confident, solid and smooth
The CTS base is a turbocharged four-cylinder that, while pumping out 268 horsepower, isn’t as smooth as its rivals. Next is a 355-horsepower V6 and a 420-horsepower twin-turbo V6 that delivers better power.
The Premiere level Lincoln MKZ starts at $35,170 and the top-of-the-line Black Label starts at $47,830.
The CTS base model starts at $45,995 with the CTS-V starting at $60,695.
While both the Lincoln and the CTS offer similar performance, the Lincoln’s classic style, larger cabin and its $10,000 lower base price make it a great value and a better deal. Winner: Lincoln MKZ!
